Virtuwell.com – This has got to be one of my favorite medical services available for WI and MN residents. Virtuwell is an online service that is available 24/7 and staffed by nurse practitioners.
The online clinic treats a large variety of conditions; bladder infections, pink eye, ear infections, bronchitis and even influenza. As well as more uncommon things like Lyme’s disease, skin problems and many other conditions.
The process is simple! Log on and create an account. Run through a series of questions related to your condition. Upon completion a np will look over your symptoms and come up with a treatment plan for you. Your plan can be either emailed or texted to you. If a prescription is needed it will be sent to a pharmacy of your choice.
The fee for this service is $45.00 or less depending on your insurance co-pay. If it is determined that they are unable to treat your symptoms, you don’t pay anything.
I have used this service and was very impressed with the whole process. I felt horrible and knew exactly what was wrong. I had no desire to leave the house, much less go see a doctor. Once I completed my questions online the nurse practitioner called me within 5 minutes.
The staff was very knowledgeable and thorough with their questions. It was determined that I did need a prescription which she sent right to my pharmacy. She also let me know if I had any questions or new symptoms I could just log back into my account and someone would give me a call to discuss them.
A couple of days later the Nurse Practitioner called me to see how I was doing and if I had any more questions or concerns.
Another benefit is that they can send your prescriptions anywhere you are. So, if you are on vacation and someone becomes sick you can simply log on for diagnosis instead of trying to find a local clinic.
