DIY Giant Tissue Paper Flowers: We saw these great flowers decorating the wall at a local antique shop and thought they would look great in our girls rooms.
Supplies:
10 Sheets tissue paper per flower
String, yarn or zip tie
Scissors
Directions:
Lay the tissue paper out in front of you with the shorter side towards you. Accordion fold the tissue paper making each fold about 1 inch all the way to the end.
Tie the center mark of the paper, making sure it is good and secure. If you are using string or yarn use a double knot. We used zip ties.
Cut the shape of the petals out of each end of the paper. We used a rounded edge. A rounded petal looks like a peony or rose. Round with slits looks like a chrysanthemum. A triangle looks like a dahlia.
Separating the tissue paper one sheet at a time, gently start to separate the paper and fluff it into a flower. Be careful not to tear the paper. Work back and forth between the two sides, you will see your flower begin to appear.
These light weight decorations can be hung very easily with just a push-pin and a piece of thread. Just tie the thread around the center of the flower and make a second knot a little bit higher to make a loop and hang right on the push-pin or nail.
