DIY Dryer Sheets Weve Tried It

Homemade Dryer Sheets Recipe and Review – We have been searching for a chemical free dryer sheet recipe and finally found one that looked easy enough to make, so we gave it a try. When we search out recipes we like to keep it simple and this is simple.

Homemade Dryer Sheets Recipe and Review

Ingredients:

1 cup of distilled water
1 cup baking soda
2 cups of white vinegar
25 drops of your favorite essential oil (Optional)
Coffee filters

Directions:

In a large bowl whisk water, baking soda and essential oil. Then SLOWLY pour in your vinegar. You will start to see the fizzle from the vinegar and baking soda. Once mixed thoroughly set aside.

Separate a package of coffee filters. Put them in a container and pour the mixture over them until completely saturated. Allow filters to soak for 15 minutes. When time is up, wring them out as best as you can (you can pour what is left back into a jar to use as fabric softener in the washer if you want). Separate them as best you can and lay them out on a cookie sheet to dry. It may take over night. Once dry, put them loosely in a large covered container or Ziploc bag and they are ready to use.

Results:

We were a little concerned that when the sheets were dry they might leave some baking powder residue on the clothes. We tested them out first on a dark load of laundry. The clothes came out great, they were soft, static free and no powder on them. In our book this was a success!

Another great idea for chemical free dryer sheets are Alpaca Wool Dryer Balls. You can read that review here.
