DIY Sharpie Tie Dye T-Shirt: I just remembered that my daughter needs an “artistic” t-shirt for school tomorrow and she doesn’t have one. Lucky for me I recently saw an article on how to make a tie dye t-shirt!
All you need is a plain t-shirt, some colored Sharpie markers, a bottle of rubbing alcohol and a dropper.
I first placed a plastic bag on the inside of the shirt so we could make both sides different without it leaking through. For our pattern we made circular dots in different colors all over the shirt.
Then fill the dropper with alcohol and begin dropping in the dots. The color “magically” bursts away from the dots. You can do any design you want!
This whole process took about 10 minutes to complete and since my 7 year old daughter helped, she is very excited to wear her shirt with pride tomorrow.
To set the color just soak the shirt in a mixture of vinegar and water before washing.
These would be great in patriotic colors for a 4th of July celebration or for that matter just a fun project for a rainy day.
Do you have any great projects to do with kids? We would love to hear about them.
