If a cookie is hard, I’m not interested. Soft, chewy cookies are the only way to go for me.
In order to keep your moist cookies soft and chewy, place one slice of white bread into the bottom of the container of your choice. I like to pick a container with a tight sealing lid. The cookies will absorb moisture from the bread, which keeps them soft longer. Why white bread? Because it won’t transfer its flavors to the cookies.
A tip that I have read says to replace the piece of bread every other day to keep the cookies soft. I have never replaced the bread, cookies don’t last for more than 3 to 4 days at my house and they always seem to stay soft.
Always remember that the suggested baking time is really only a recommendation and they should be watched closely. I always take my cookies out of the oven when they are still soft to the touch. Your cookies will continue to bake once you remove them from the oven.
Comment below if you have a great tip on how to keep your cookies soft.

Homemade Blackhead Remover Recipe – Nobody wants to admit that they have blackheads, but (Missy does)… My guess is that at some point in time you have tried blackhead removal strips that you can buy at the store. This 2 ingredient recipe works great.
1 Tablespoon Milk
1 Tablespoon Knox Gelatine
Simple! Just mix the two ingredients and stir. The mixture will be firm. Once completely mixed put in the microwave for 10 seconds on medium heat and stir. Be sure not to cook any longer or it will burn your skin. Test it with your finger to make sure that it isn’t too hot before putting on your nose.
Use a paint brush to spread evenly over your nose, covering all blackheads. Let sit for 1o minutes. You will feel it stiffen and pull on your skin. Hopefully you enjoy the smell of warm milk! After 10 minutes pull off. You may even notice some hair along with the blackheads.

Alpaca Wool Dryer Balls Review: Go GREEN and save money was the promise when purchasing a set of 100% Alpaca Wool Dryer Balls. After a month of using them for all of our laundry I am definitely sold.
Alpaca dryer balls are felted alpaca yarn designed to bounce around the dryer with the laundry to shorten drying times and reduce wrinkles without exposing your clothes to any of the chemicals in dryer sheets or plastic dryer balls. You can re-use the alpaca dryer balls for years. The best results come when using 3 dryer balls.
As they tumble around the dryer the alpaca balls fluff the laundry and gently pummel it to make it softer. They can also reduce drying time by about 25% by absorbing moisture, which can result in saving money on utility bills.
The alpaca balls help reduce static, but be careful not to over dry the clothes, which can result in the dreaded static cling. I have only noticed minor static in a load of towels which I had accidentally set on the extra dry setting. Speaking of loads of towels, the alpaca dryer balls won’t affect the absorbency of the towels like dryer sheets do.
The first use is best with a load of wet towels. The balls may initially become a little fuzzy. If this happens, carefully trim off the fuzzy hair with a pair of scissors, and you’re good to go. The dryer balls may shrink slightly with continued use, which is normal.
Do you really like the scent of dryer sheets? Use essential oils to scent your dryer balls. If you do use essential oils send the dryer balls through alone on a short cycle to dry the oil, otherwise you may get oil spots on your clothing.

We purchased our Alpaca Balls at Specialty Meat & Gourmet in Hudson, WI. Thanks Linda and Steve for the recommendation I will be in to get some for Christmas gifts.
Tangled Salon and Spa Missy Gets a Makeover – Generally people don’t cut the majority of their hair off right before winter but I was ready for an extreme change. A big shout out to my hairstylist of many years Nan Grekoff co-owner of Tangled Salon and Spa in Hudson, WI for allowing We’ve Tried It to come in and video the experience.
Not only did I get the full treatment from Nan, stylist Justine Burton did my makeup to make sure I looked my best for the big reveal. I may have to watch the video several times to see exactly how Justine did my eyes with the POP of blue.
I must admit I am a bit of a baby when it comes to putting bleach on my head… I like to say that I have a very sensitive scalp. So if I am acting up in the video just keep in mind my “sensitive scalp”.
If you are in or near the St. Croix Valley be sure to stop in to Tangled Salon & Spa, 209 Second Street, Hudson, WI 54016 – 715-386.8123. You can also check them out on Facebook.

Jeunesse Instantly Ageless Review: WOW! This is one of those products that I can’t gush enough over. When I bought it I was told that it was Botox in a box. It is. Today I woke up with bags under my eyes and in two minutes they were gone.
Recently I watched a video of a woman trying out Jeunesse Instantly Ageless and I couldn’t believe the results and had to see for myself. I purchased mine at BB Cosmetic Makeup Bar in Hudson, WI. It comes packaged with 50 packs that have 3-5 applications in each pouch.
Using a very small amount I just dabbed the cream under my eyes. You can feel it tightening your skin. Within a minute I could see it working and within 2 minutes my bags were gone. Seriously, gone.
The product description: Instantly Ageless is a powerful anti-wrinkle microcream that works quickly and effectively to diminish the visible signs of aging. The revolutionary ingredient is argireline: a peptide that works like botox—without the needles. Instantly Ageless revives the skin and minimizes the appearance of fine lines and pores for a flawless finish.
Instantly Ageless isn’t just for getting rid of bags under your eyes: Visisibly diminishes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, erases the appearance of dark circles and puffiness under the eyes, minimizes the appearance of pores, helps to even skin texture, mattes skin for a flawless finish and restores skin to optimum appearance.

How to Season a Cast Iron Skillet: I love my cast iron skillet as does my husband. One of us doesn’t care for it properly. I don’t want to point fingers but it’s not me. As you know with cast iron if you don’t take care of it, it can rust.
I noticed our skillet was looking pretty rough and the food was sticking. When properly seasoned a cast iron skillet is smooth, shiny, and non-stick. Ours was none of these. You’ll know it’s time to re-season if food sticks to the surface or if the skillet appears dull or rusted.
Luckily re-seasoning a cast iron skillet is a simple process and assures you will continue to love cooking in it.
Preheat oven to 325°F.
If your skillet is new wash the skillet with warm, soapy water and a sponge or stiff brush. Cast iron should not normally be washed with soap, but it’s fine here since it’s about to be seasoned.
Rinse and thoroughly dry the skillet.
Using a cloth or paper towel, apply a thin coat of vegetable oil to the inside and outside of the skillet. Vegetable oil is the most recommended oil, but you can use any oil you choose.
Place the skillet upside down on the oven’s center rack.
Place a sheet of aluminum foil or pan below the rack to catch any drips.
Bake for an hour.
Turn off heat and allow to the skillet to cool completely before removing from oven.
I have found it works great to season my skillet after dinner, that way the skillet can cool down in the oven overnight.

How to Dye Easter Eggs with Kool Aid: It’s almost Easter! We were looking for a different way to dye our eggs this year and decided to give using Kool-Aid packets a try. This method was so easy and really gave the eggs a vibrant color.
Get your kiddos involved! Simply mix the Kool-Aid packets with 2/3 cup of water and stir. We let our eggs soak for about 10 minutes. It was surprising how quickly the eggs took the color. You could soak them for less time to achieve lighter shades.
The Kool-Aid packets that we purchased at County Market in Hudson, WI, were 5 for $1.00. Cheap enough to experiment with all the colors. I was wondering if the eggs were going to pick up any of the Kool-Aid flavor, but rest assured they did not.
Do you have any interesting Easter egg dying tricks? Comment below we would love to hear from you and maybe we will even give them a try.
Another cute Easter idea: Deviled Egg Chicks – Super cute and easy to make. Your family will love them!
BB Makeup Cosmetic Bar Review: If you have watched any of our Weve Tried It YouTube videos then you know that Shirley and myself are makeup challenged. Recently we had a photo shoot to get ready for so we enlisted the help of Brooke Fleetwood owner of BB Makeup Cosmetic Bar in Hudson, WI.
First things first… We contacted Brooke less than 24 hours before we needed to be glamorous and asked her to open BB Makeup Cosmetic Bar a few hours early to accommodate us and she did! Service with a smile, great music and a fun atmosphere!
Take a look at our before and after photos. Shirley went with airbrushing and I went with the BB makeup line. For my face Brooke used hD flawless face, copper bake bronzer, barbie blush, injection highlight. My eyes she went with Fairy Pigment, Titties Shadow, Sugar Daddy shadow, Goth Shadow, Black Caviar Liner, smoked out with Sugar Daddy. Brookie Pot on the lips and BB Lashes.
The lashes that I had on are good for up to 30 uses and Shirley’s are good for 15. We purchased eyelash glue from BB’s and we will be doing a video to see if we can make it look as easy as Brooke did. That should be a good video!
Personally I loved the experience and how I looked and felt. It gave me the sass I have been missing. I plan on buying the BB Makeup line and with a makeup lesson or two from Brooke, hopefully I will be able to recreate this look. Shirley felt like it was a bit much for her. I think she looked FABULOUS!
