Mrs. Fields Scoop N Cut Tool Review

Mrs. Field Scoop-N-Cut Tool

Mrs. Fields Scoop N Cut Tool Review: We love a good kitchen gadget! This two sized all-in-one scoop tool makes pushing out your cookie dough as easy as can be.

The Scoop-N-Cut tool has a teaspoon side and a tablespoon measuring side. The scoop area is silicone and it’s small and compact size makes it easy to store. Oh, and it’s dishwasher safe.

cookie dough

We really did think that this was a great gadget! Easy to use and it kept our cookies uniform in shape and size. We will definitely be using this time and time again.

If you buy a premade roll of cookie dough there is a center bar that cuts your cookies. We tried the new Marie Callender’s Chocolate Chip cookie Mix. The recipe only called for one egg and 3/4 stick of butter, mix well and use your Scoop-N-Cut tool. Simple.

In other reviews that we read there was a suggestion to wipe the tool with oil for the first use. We did not do this and had no problems with the dough sticking. Thumbs up for Mrs. Fields Scoop-N-Cut Tool!

Olloclip 4 in 1 Photo Lens Phatphood Review

Olloclip 4 in 1 photo lens review

Olloclip 4 in 1 Photo Lens Phatphood Review: I like to take pictures with my iPhone 5 (mainly food), so I figured why not try some of these fancy lenses I see promoted/suggested on Facebook?

Olloclip 4-in-1 photo lens for iPhone 5/5s vs. 3-Piece Set: Macro, Wide-Angle & Fisheye Magnetic Smartphone Lenses. Let me start off with the biggest annoyance. When using either of these products, and if you protect your phone with any type of case, it needs to be removed before using. Understandable, but bothersome.

Olloclip lenses are attached to a tight fitting mold that slides snug over your factory installed lens on your iPhone. Simple, pretty much error proof. The 3-Piece Set: Macro, Wide-Angle & Fisheye Magnetic Smartphone Lenses have adhesive rings that stick on to your device. These rings are magnetic which allows the lenses to bond to your device. It was hard to center the ring onto my device. Also I’m not one to stick things on my phone. Not cool.

They both have a fish eye lens. The 3-Piece Set: Macro, Wide-Angle & Fisheye Magnetic Smartphone Lenses shown first is blurry and shows the innards of the lens. Where as the olloclip is a clear picture and just shows the intended view.

Facial Hair Removal Epilator Coil Review

Facial Hair Removal Epilator Coil Review: When women get to a certain age facial hair pops up here and there and it must be taken care of. This product caught our eye as something we should try.

We would like to state that we watched a few YouTube videos on the Epilator tool before we tried it and most of the women raved about the product and didn’t seem to be in any pain… Watch our video review to see if that was the case for us.

Here is what Cheeky says about their product: Works by extracting hairs from the root. Hair removal by bending the coil over the hair then giving a twisting action entrapping the hair for a rapid pluck.

Do you have any hair removal products that you think we we should try? Comment below and maybe we will check them out.

Bluapple Produce Saver Review

Bluapple Review

Bluapple Produce Saver Review: So we tried Bluapple which claims to prolong produce freshness. Buying two containers of strawberries we gave it the Weve Tried It test.

We placed one container of strawberries in the  upper drawer of the refrigerator with a Bluapple ball and the 2nd container strawberries with nothing added going in the drawer below it.

Bluapple website product description: Ethylene gas is given off naturally by fruits and vegetables as a signaling mechanism in order to coordinate uniform ripening. However, once concentrated in your refrigerator or other storage areas, the presence of ethylene gas continues to speed up ripening and hasten spoilage.

The Bluapple® is designed to provide effective ethylene gas absorption for three months in a typical home refrigerator produce bin or storage container. The active ingredient does not “wear out”, but continues to absorb ethylene until it has reached its capacity. A One Year Refill Kit rounds out the Bluapple® ethylene gas management product line, allowing consumers to reuse Bluapples® and not add them to landfills.

Both drawers were untouched for ten days. When we took them out, both batches of strawberries were moldy, but the one with the Bluapple appeared to have more mold (photo on left.)

Bluapple says that the approximate storage life of strawberries without using the saver ball is 7-10 days. Their claim is that by using Bluapple you can extend the useful storage life of your produce up to three times longer. Which on the short end would give your strawberries 21 days.

We may have to try with a different fruit or vegetable, but so far, this product failed. 0/5  If you want to give it a try you can purchase the Bluapple on Amazon for $13.00.

myCharge Amp 4000 Portable Charger Review

MyCharge iPhone Charger

myCharge Amp 4000 Portable Charger Review: This less than half-a-pound phone charger can save the day when you are out and about. For instance, when I did my State Fair food adventure I was constantly using my phone to take pictures and notes on all of the food I was eating.

Well we all know iPhone batteries really suck, so not even half-way through the day my battery was at 12%. I just grabbed my newly purchased MyCharge and plugged my iPhone 5 via USB and continued with my food adventure.

Not only did my phone fully charge while I constantly used it, but the MyCharge had some juice left to keep on charging even when I left the fair with a full charge on my phone.

Great device! Light, small enough to fit in pocket, and does what is intended. 3/5. One concerning downfall, any aftermarket iPhone USB cables do not work at all. I tried three aftermarket cables and only the original cable that came with my iPhone work. This brought my product rating down significantly.

Do you know of any inexpensive portable chargers that work great? Let us know in the comments below. You can purchase the myCharge Amp 4000 on Amazon for $29.99.

Good Grips Grape and Tomato Cutter Review

OXO Good Grips Grape and Carrot Cutter

Good Grips Grape and Tomato Cutter Review: We love a good kitchen gadget and when we saw this little goodie we decided to put it to the test on grapes, tomatoes and black olives.

The OXO product is described as follows: “Take the hassle out of quartering grapes and tomatoes with the OXO Good Grips Grape & Tomato Cutter. Sharp, serrated, stainless steel blades quickly and easily slice through the soft fruit skin, while keeping fingers safe and out of the way. The blades also cut through pitted olives and grape tomatoes with ease. The curved finger rests provide comfort, even during repetitive use. The Grape & Tomato Cutter is great for making chicken salad, sangria, fruit salad, salsa and more. The cover snaps on for safe storage. The Grape & Tomato Cutter comes apart for easy cleaning and is top-rack dishwasher safe.”

Product Features:

*Quarters grapes or grape tomatoes in an easy, one-handed motion
*Perfect for grapes, pitted olives and grape tomatoes
*Serrated blades quarter quickly, easily and safely
*Perfect for chicken salad, sangria, fruit salad, salsa and more
*Curved finger rests provide comfort while cutting
*Cover snaps on for safe storage

One thing we noticed was that the cutter didn’t work great on bigger cherry tomatoes, so stick with medium to small for the best results.

Gold’s Gym Folding Upper And Lower Body Cycle Review

Golds Gym exercise

Gold’s Gym Folding Upper And Lower Body Cycle Review:  I am always looking to add some low impact training to my scheduled, so I decided to purchase the Gold’s Gym Upper and Lower Body Cycle and give it a try.

I paid $27.95 at my local Walmart store and while doing a some research for this review I found it was only $19.01 online at Walmart.com. Note to self, always check online for better deals first.

Product Description: Improve your strength, coordination and circulation with the Golds Gym Upper and Lower Body Cycle. It offers a simple, low-impact cardio workout while an electronic meter tracks your total workout time. This Gym exercise cycle provides upper and lower body workout that are designed to strengthen your legs and tone your arms, shoulders, and back without leaving your chair. It comes in a compact, portable design with pedal straps that give a firm grip to your feet. This cardio workout cycle has a durable steel frame and folds conveniently for storage and transportation. It is easy to assemble requiring no tools. Furthermore, it features a quiet operation and has non-slip feet that hold firmly in place while you exercise. The Golds Gym Upper and Lower Body Cycle runs on battery that come included.

Putting the cycle together was very simple. Unfold, put in the locking knob and the T knob in for resistance. Done, it is ready to use.

I used the cycle for about 45 minutes, starting at the least resistance and moving to the highest resistance that I could get it to do. Even at the highest resistance it is probably comparable to the lowest level on an exercise bike. It would have been nice if there was some sort of marking to know what resistance level you were actually at.

The motion of the pedals is not completely smooth, but is easy to keep in motion. I did not have any problems with the unit sliding while in use.

There is a warning label on the unit indicates that the surface may get hot. They are correct, the unit did get quite warm.

For the price I think this product performs quite well. I will probably use it as a fill in exercise, as it is easy to set it up and pedal away while I am watching my favorite show. I am also going to suggest this for my mother who is in need of an exercise that she can do while sitting down.

Do you have any suggestions on great low impact and compact exercise equipment? Comment below and we will check it out.

Talenti Gelato Vs Ice Cream Review

Talenti Gelato Vs Ice Cream Review: Last weekend we came across Talenti Gelato Mediterranean Mint at our local grocery store and decided to give it a try. We have heard that gelato is a better choice when craving sweets.

Being ice cream lovers, we were skeptical that Gelato wouldn’t live up to our good old mint chocolate chip ice cream (we don’t have a favorite brand – we love them all.) We were definitely wrong in thinking that, it was amazing! The gelato was so creamy, velvety and full of flavor that we definitely have a new favorite brand of mint. Seriously, it was that good!

Since the gelato tasted so amazing we did a little research and find out if it really is a better choice. Talenti site says; Gelato is the Italian word for ice cream, and although it may seem similar to ice cream, gelato has an entirely different origin and production process. Talenti gelato is particularly special, because we make it from scratch with only the finest ingredients imported from around the world.

Talenti Gelato flavors

Gelato has less fat than ice cream. While ice cream is normally heavy on the cream and has a fat content of at least 10 percent, gelato uses more milk than cream, and has a fat content of 5 – 7 percent.

Ice creams are churned faster and harder than gelato. Ice creams typically increase in volume by at least 25 and up to 90 percent. This makes them a little fluffier. Gelato is churned at a much slower pace, keeping it dense (and sometimes more flavorful).

Ice cream is served frozen, gelato is typically stored and served at a slightly warmer temperature, so it’s not quite completely frozen.

Talenti Gelato

We only tried Mediterranean Mint (mint ice cream is our downfall,) Talenti has 30 different flavors available – you can see them here. We plan on trying them all…

So there you have it! There really are some benefits to eating gelato over ice cream. Do you have a favorite frozen treat you love? Comment below and maybe we will give it a try.
