popsicle homemade

Dannon Light and Fit Yogurt Popsicles

Easiest snack ever! We have been trying to watch our intake of junk food, but still want something sweet from time to time. These yogurt popsicles are the way to go.

Yogurt Popsicles

All you need is your favorite kind of yogurt and popsicle sticks. We cut a small opening in the middle of lid and placed the stick in. Popped it in the freezer and within a few hours we were enjoying the perfect healthy snack.

We chose Dannon Light & Fit because it is a great source of riboflavin, calcium, protein, phosphorus, and vitamin D. So it’s delicious and nutritious! Light nonfat yogurt and it’s only 80 calories!

This was very satisfying! Bring your kids along with you to the store and let them pick out their favorite flavors of yogurt, then they feel like they were a part of the process and it will taste that much better.

We will definitely be keeping these on hand this summer! We want to hear what you are making for healthy snacks in your home, leave us a comment below! We are always looking for new recipes to try!

Chex mix treat

Chex Muddy Buddies Recipe Review

Some of you may know this recipe by the name “Puppy Chow” but since we used the recipe on the back of our Rice Chex cereal we will call it by their name “Muddy Buddies.”

My daughter had to make this for a class project so we thought we would share it with you.

Puppy Chow ingredients

Ingredients:

9 cups Rice Chex™
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

Directions:

1. Into large bowl measure cereal; set aside.
2. In 1-quart microwavable bowl microwave chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter uncovered on high 1 minute; stir. Microwave about 30 seconds longer or until mixture can be stirred smooth. Stir in vanilla. Pour mixture over cereal, stirring until evenly coated. Pour into 2-gallon resealable food-storage plastic bag.
3. Add powdered sugar. Seal bag and shake until well coated. Spread on waxed paper to cool. Store in airtight container in refrigerator.

Puppy Chow recipe

If we were to offer up any tips, it would be to use two bowls and divide up the cereal and chocolate mixture – It makes it easier to coat. We did the same thing when we put them into gallon Ziploc bags to shake on the powder sugar.

Puppy Chow snack

The whole process was quite simple and we honestly had a great time as a family making Muddy Buddies. Seems like a great party snack!

Frozen Yogurt Strawberries

Easy Healty Snack: Frozen Yogurt Strawberries

Frozen Yogurt Strawberries

Frozen yogurt strawberries are a great and easy healthy snack for kids and adults on the go.

We used two different kind of yogurts, Oikos Greek Yogurt and Yoplait Yogurt. Feel free to use your favorite brand and flavor.

Ingredients:

Fresh Strawberries
Dannon Oikos Greek Vanilla Yogurt
Yoplait Original Vanilla Yogurt
Parchment Paper (we used Bakers Helper)

Healthy Frozen Yogurt Strawberries

*Fit parchment paper to a cookie sheet
*Wash and dry strawberries
*Dip each strawberry in yogurt (get a good covering)
*Place on a cookie sheet and into the freezer for until frozen solid
*Remove from cookie sheet and place into a storage container

This whole process took about 15 minutes. We were eating our yogurt strawberries an hour later.

They were both good! I personally have a sweet tooth and the Yoplait was sweeter.

Have some fun with these and get several different flavors of yogurt. Be sure to come back and comment on this post to let us know what you thought!
