Colgate-Palmolive Customer Satisfaction

Colgate Customer Satisfaction

Colgate-Palmolive Customer Satisfaction: Defective products happen to all companies, what sets a company apart is how they deal with customers who let them know they received a less then perfect product.

We recently purchased a product from the Colgate-Palmolive Company that upon using was determined to be defective. Instead of just getting upset and tossing it, we sent the company a quick email telling them the product we had purchased and what was wrong with it.

Colgate-Palmolive Company responded in the way all companies should. Within a couple of hours we received a response from them apologizing for the defective product and let us know they would be sending out a coupon for us purchase another one as well as a postage paid return envelope so they could determine what had gone wrong with the one we purchased.

In less than a week I received a package from Colgate-Palmolive. The postage paid return envelope was included with directions on how to easily return the defective piece. The package also included a coupon for not 1 but 2 of the products we had purchased as well as additional coupons totaling nearly $20.00.

We are very pleased with the great customer service and quick response by Colgate-Palmolive and will continue to use their products in our home.

Have you had a good experience with a companies customer service? Comment below, we would love to hear from you.

Oster dog grooming

Oster Animal Super Duty Advanced Clipper Review

Betty Before

Oster Animal Super Duty Advanced Clipper Review: As you can see from the photo above, Betty was in need of grooming. She might be the calmest dog around, so we decided to give it a try ourselves with the Oster Super Duty Clippers.

Oster’s website says, “The Oster® Advanced Kit is optimized for use with dogs and designed to carve through thick, dense fur. It is built with a powerful Pivot Motor design for extreme cutting power and reduced noise. This ensures a faster and quieter cut that also helps reduce your dog’s fear and anxiety through the grooming process.”

Following the included DVD instructions, we gave Betty a good brushing and bath before beginning. Starting out the cut with the longest safety comb that was included and we worked our way down. This was not the quickest method, but we wanted to be extra careful since it was our first time using the Oster clippers.

Using the safety combs did remove a fair amount of hair, but once we had completed those, we went for it. Using just the tug-free blade is when the real grooming began.

The clipper did a great job getting through Betty’s very thick coat. We were able to groom her down to a nice length using the clippers, following up shears to give her the final finishing touches.

Betty Haircut

The Oster clippers are definitely going to come in handy keeping Betty looking good. Do you groom your dog at home? Tell us what kind of clippers you use in the comment section below.

How to shirt

DIY Fashion: Turn a T-Shirt Into a Tank Top

Turn a tshirt into a tank top

DIY Fashion: Turn a T-shirt Into a Tank Top. We are excited to feature Claire Courtney as our feature teenage DIY guest. We think you will agree that she is pretty crafty!

Claire found a tutorial on crafterhours.com to turn a t-shirt into a tank top and she did a great job.

Step 1: Pick out a t-shirt and make five cuts. Each sleeve just inside the seam, and one straight across just underneath the collar. Then make a cut that trims the bottom hem off and one that creates a drawstring just above where the hem is removed.

Tshirt 2

The rest of the process is pretty straightforward. Here’s an illustration of your two lines of stitching in the straps.  After stitching you may decide to trim away excess fabric.

Tshirt 3

You can switch up the straps any way you want, knots, bows, tie them on one side or two. You could give your shirt more color by cutting fabric from a different color shirt for the straps. Check out Claire’s finished project – We can’t wait to see what she works on next! Be sure to show her some love and pin this to your DIY Fashion board on Pinterest.

Tshirt 4

What a great way to keep busy on summer break! We would love to feature your project on Weve Tried It. Leave us a comment below and we will let you know how to submit your picture tutorial and story.

school supplies list

School Tool Box Online Shopping Review

School Tool Box

School Tool Box Online Shopping Review: This year we decided to purchase our school supplies through schooltoolbox.com to make back to school time less stressful. No more having to go to multiple stores because they are out of items that are needed.

My daughter’s school is participating in the School Tool Box program. Each class list is already set up online for us. If you have some items from last year that you don’t need to purchase for this year, no problem just remove the items from the preset box for your class.

If your child’s school is not on the list of participating schools no worries, you can create your own custom box that is delivered right to your home. Just use the individual supplies tab to shop for the items on the list. The product categories menu’s are set up very well so creating your box is just a few clicks away.

We have heard from several teaching professionals who say they love School Tool Box because they know all the children will have exactly what they need for a great year of learning.

Another benefit of School Tool Box is that when your school participates in the program they can receive $5.00 per box as a fundraiser. If you are ordering as an individual, School Tool Box makes a donation to Feed My Starving Children for each box ordered.

clean makeup brushes

How to Clean Your Makeup Brushes

How to clean makeup brushes

How to Clean Your Makeup Brushes: How often do you clean your makeup brushes? Even though makeup brushes are one of the biggest investments in our makeup bags, they are often the most overlooked.

Makeup brushes are a breeding ground for bacteria. Think of how much bacteria is on your face daily. Bacteria and natural oils transmit onto your brushes every time they come in contact with your skin.

Another benefit of keeping your makeup brushes clean is softness. Makeup buildup on your brushes can make them feel scratchy and stiff. Cleaning your brushes on a regular basis will help keep them soft. This is especially important for people with sensitive skin.

We chose to clean our brushes with baking soda since it is such a gentle yet effective cleaning product. Simply fill a glass with tepid water and add 1/2 tablespoon of baking soda. Swish the brush around in the water then simply rinse until the water runs clear.

Once your brushes are clean, wrap them loosely with a paper towel to help them keep their shape and let them dry.

Makeup brush cleaner

Since it takes a couple of hours for them to dry completely its best to do this right after you have applied your makeup, or at night before bed.

Our brushes were clean and soft and ready to use in the morning. Do you have a great beauty trick you use? Comment below, we would love to hear from you.

soap scum

How to Remove Soap Scum and Hard Water Stains

Homemade Hard Water Remover

How to Remove Soap Scum and Hard Water Stains: Hard water stains and soap scum on shower doors, tubs and tiles can be very frustrating, even after you have cleaned them, the glass still looks foggy and dull.

We were searching for a way to clean the hard water stains without the using harsh chemicals in today’s commercial products. We are very pleased with the recipe we found on savvysugar.com. Easy to make and worked like a charm.

What you need:
Small mixing bowl
1 cup Epsom Salts (Naturally softens the water breaking up the stains)
1/2 cup baking soda (Gently scrubs)
1/4 cup liquid dish soap (Gently cleans)
Cleaning cloth
Paper towels

Lucky for us, we had all these ingredients already so we mixed up a bowl and tried it right away.

This works best on a dry shower door, so wipe down any wet areas before cleaning. Scoop a bit of the mixture on a damp cloth and rub in a circular motion over the tiles or glass doors. We found it worked best to put a couple of paper towels under the glass door to catch any of the drips for easy clean up of the floor.

Let the mixture sit on for a couple of minutes, then give it a one more quick rub. Then just wash away with warm water. We were worried about it making a lot of soap suds from the dish soap, but this wasn’t an issue.

The results were immediately noticeable! It was hard to get a photo without a glare, but we hope you can see in the pics above how clean and clear the shower door turned out.

We will definitely be using this recipe again to get all our bathrooms sparkling clean. Do you have a great homemade recipe you would like us to try out? Comment below and let us know.

Sunburn relief

At Home Sunburn Relief Remedies

Sunburn remedies Weve Tried It

At Home Sunburn Relief Remedies: Did you spend a little to much time out in the sun yesterday and now have a nasty sunburn? Here are some great home remedies for easing the pain with items you probably already have.

After doing a good amount of research, we found that these are the most common natural remedies.

Vinegar: Vinegar is a great way to treat sunburn,it is most effective after a cool or tepid shower.

You will need:
-1 cup apple cider vinegar
-a spray bottle (optional)
-Cotton balls

Take a water only shower if possible. Fill a spray bottle with pure unfiltered apple cider vinegar, and spray it onto your burn, or soak cotton balls and apply. Let it dry.

Milk: A cool milk compress is one of the quickest, simplest and low-cost ways to treat sunburn. The cool temperature of the milk with help ease the heat, while the milk creates a layer of protein to help your skin heal.

You will need:
-Soft Cloth
-Chilled milk

Pour a bowl of milk high enough so that you can thoroughly soak your soft cloth in it. When the cloth is saturated, let the excess liquid drain off. Drape across your burn, pressing gently so that it stays in place, and leave it on for as long as needed. If the milk in the bowl becomes room temperature chill it before re-dunking your compress.

Cucumber: Cucumbers can provide instant relief to sunburned skin. Not only is a cool cucumber soothing to the burn simply because its cool, but its antioxidant and analgesic properties promote healing and further relief from discomfort. You can either apply cucumber slices directly to the skin or make a cucumber paste and apply to the skin.

Baking Soda: Adding a few heaping tablespoons of baking soda to cool bath water makes a sunburn-soothing remedy. Just keep your soaking time down to 15 to 20 minutes.

Oatmeal: Oatmeal added to cool bathwater offers another wonderful relief for sunburned skin. Fill up the bathtub with cool water-scoop 1/2 to 1 cup oatmeal — an ideal skin soother — and mix it in

Potato: A potato makes a great pain reliever. Take two washed potatoes, cut them into small chunks, and place them in a blender or food processor. Blend or process until the potatoes are in liquid form. Add water if they look dry. Pat the burned areas with the pulverized potatoes. Wait until the potatoes dry, then take a cool shower.

Water: The sun not only burned your skin, but dehydrated it. Be sure to replenish liquids by drinking plenty of water while recovering from a sunburn.

Pain relievers: Nonprescription pain relievers such as aspirin and ibuprofen can relieve pain and cut the inflammation of a sunburn.

How to Create a Simple and Affordable Centerpiece

Easy Flower Centerpiece

How to Create a Simple and Affordable Centerpiece: We love having a beautiful centerpiece on the table when having guest over, but buying these can get expensive.

Creating beautiful centerpieces doesn’t have to break the bank and you can use items you already have around the house.

We found this great idea on Martha Stewart and just had to try it.

Supplies used:
Serving bowl
2 grocery store bouquets $4.00 each
1 bundle of baby’s breath $2.00
Scotch tape

Using your Scotch tape, create the basket weave pattern on the bowl. Cut your flowers down as you place them on top of the tape weave. We found it easiest to work from the center out.  Once you are happy with your centerpiece design, simply pull out one of the flowers and pour in your water and “food” powder packet.

Flower 3

This project took about 20 minutes to complete and at a cost of $10.00 total for the flowers and baby’s breath. We just might have centerpieces on our table all the time.

Do you have a great decorating tip you would like to share with us? We would love to hear from you, comment in the section below.

Homemade Pudding Pops

Homemade Pudding Pops: If you were thinking “homemade” means you have to make the pudding from scratch, you are wrong. Super easy snack for those hot summer days.

Homemade Pudding Pops

All you need is your favorite kind of pudding and popsicle sticks. Cut a small opening in the middle of lid and placed the stick in. Place the snack pack in the freezer and within a few hours you will be enjoying a delicious frozen snack.

We used Hunt’s Snack Pack Pudding which is fortified with as much calcium as an 8-oz glass of milk and contains no high fructose corn syrup.
