How To Make AAA Batteries Work As AA

This is the best tip we have seen in a long time! If you run out of AA batteries but have some AAAs laying around and some tinfoil you’re in luck.

Wrap up a ball of foil and stuff it into the case of your device where the battery’s positive terminal connects (we read you can do it both ways, but we only tried positive.) As long as you have enough foil to fill in the gap and make it tight, it should work.

This of course isn’t a permanent fix but should get you through until you can get to the store.

I spoke with Linda Janse “Meat & Cheese Communications Liaison” and she was kind enough to give me a tour and fill me in on all the hot items to try.

Specialty Meats & Gourmet only deal with the smaller, specialty suppliers and producers in the business. Their suppliers include individual farmers and smaller distributors. The items that you will find in the store and on the website are not usually found in grocery outlets or your average restaurant.

DIY Chalkboard Wall Calendar

DIY Chalkboard Wall Calendar: I have always loved looking at the chalkboard art and wall calendars on Pinterest and finally decided to give it a try. We are so glad we did!

DIY Chalkboard Tools

Tools and Products:

Painters tape small and big roll

Black chalkboard paint (we used Glidden Disney Chalkboard Paint)

Throw away paint pan

3/8 paintbrush roller

First step is to decided how big you want to make your calendar, we decided on 4 ft by 4ft.  Then you must measure it out… make sure you have 7 days. I posted the pic above to show you that I made a mistake and had 8 days. With a little reworking and taking off a row of tape, it all worked out. I forgot to take a photo of the actual calendar before I started painting.

Chalkboard lines

Once you have your tape ready and your lines counted out several times you can start painting. I did 3 coats, each coat I painted in a different direction to make sure it covered nicely. I waited 3 hours in-between each coat.

Once I completed the last coat I removed my painters tape. Sometimes if you leave the tape on until it is completely dry you pull up the paint with the tape.

We waited 2 full days to draw on it just to make sure it was completely dry. We decided to use chalkboard markers that we found at Michael’s and Walmart.

Once we figured out the measuring, this project was really easy and fun! We would highly recommend try it out.

Listerine and Vinegar Foot Soak Review

If you have spent any amount of time on Pinterest you have seen the pictures for the Listerine and vinegar foot soak. We decided to give it a try and see if our worn out winter feet could be saved.

Listerine foot soak

The story we looked at used 1/4 cup Listerine, 1/4 vinegar and 1/2 cup water – this did not seem like enough to cover our feet so we changed it up a bit.

1 cup Listerine

1 cup white distilled vinegar

2 cups warm water

For our container we used a throwaway tin and it worked great. Put all the liquids in the tin and then soak your feet for 10 minutes.

After 10 minutes, take your feet out and wipe away the dry skin and use some of your favorite lotion.

It worked great! If your feet are cracked you may need to do the process a few more times during the same week for the best results.

Let us know if you have tried the Listerine foot soak and how it worked for you in the comments below.

Oil Pulling

Coconut Oil Pulling Review

Coconut Oil Pulling Review: With so much talk about coconut oil pulling we decided to see if it was all that it was cracked up to be.

After researching online we learned that the best way to oil pull is to place a tablespoon of cold pressed organic coconut oil into your mouth. Swish the oil around the mouth for approximately 10-15 minutes and then spitting it out.

Other oils such as extra virgin cold pressed coconut, sunflower and olive oil have been used, although sesame oil is considered one of the best oils for this practice. I recommend alternating oils every couple of days to get the full benefit. Putting high quality organic oils into the mouth has a multi-effect outcome.

The said benefits to oil pulling are:

• Overall strengthening of the teeth and gums and jaws
• Prevention of diseases of the gums and mouth
• Potential holistic remedy for bleeding gums
• Prevention of dryness of the lips, mouth and throat
• Possible holistic treatment for TMJ
• Migraine headache relief
• Correcting hormone imbalances
• Reducing inflammation of arthritis
• May help with gastro-enteritis
• Aids in the reduction of eczema
• May reduce symptoms of bronchitis
• Helps support normal kidney function
• May help reduce sinus congestion
• Some people report improved vision
• Helps reduce insomnia
• Reduced hangover after alcohol consumption
• Aids in reducing pain
• Reduces the symptoms of allergies
• Helps detoxify the body of harmful metals and organisms

Watch our video to see if we recommend oil pulling – one of us had surprising results. Please comment below and let us know if you tried it and what your results were.

***Note: We have had some comments about the dangers of swallowing coconut oil. We know that this is an oil that you can consume, in the video we were referring to the toxins that you release when oil pulling.
