My best purchase to date this summer! I have been wanting to buy a new dining room table and chairs but have yet to find just what I am looking for. While scrolling through my Instagram feed I came across a sponsored ad for kitchen chair covers. Inexpensive, easy to use, washable and cute. I immediately went over to my favorite store, Amazon, and found them for a better price.

For $34.99 I received 6 chair covers. I have Amazon Prime, so shipping was covered, and they showed up at my front door in 2 days. Within minutes I had them on my chairs and I couldn’t have been more thrilled. They fit amazingly and the fabric is so soft. The best part is that if they get dirty I can throw them in the washing machine.

Easy 4th of July Poke Cake Recipe

Happy Independence Day! If you are heading out to celebrate today and need to whip up a festive dessert this is it. Try our 4th of July easy poke cake recipe. It’s a crowd pleaser.

Ingredients:

1 Duncan Hines White Cake Mix

1 box 3 oz Strawberry Jell-O Mix

1 cup Boiling Water

1/2 cup Cold Water

8 oz Frozen Cool Whip (thawed)

1-pint Blueberries

1-quart Strawberries (thinly sliced)

Let’s make a cake! If you don’t want to bring your personal baking dish, we suggest buying Reynolds non-stick baking wear 13×9 pan with lid. No preparation and it can be thrown away after the cake is devoured.

Start off by making your white cake mix as directed on the box. Be sure to only use egg whites. Bake and let cool for 20 minutes.

Mix Jell-O with boiling water in a large cup, then add the cold water and mix well. Grab a fork and poke holes all over your cooled cake, pour the Jell-O over top. Place cake in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.

Now it’s time to decorate! Evenly spread the Cool Whip over the top of the cake. To make your flag, start out by placing blueberries in the top left corner. We did 5 rows of 7 blueberries. Next overlap the strawberries for your red stripes. We did 4 rows. Refrigerate for one hour and serve.

How to Keep Homemade Cookies Soft

If a cookie is hard, I’m not interested. Soft, chewy cookies are the only way to go for me.

In order to keep your moist cookies soft and chewy, place one slice of white bread into the bottom of the container of your choice. I like to pick a container with a tight sealing lid. The cookies will absorb moisture from the bread, which keeps them soft longer. Why white bread? Because it won’t transfer its flavors to the cookies.

A tip that I have read says to replace the piece of bread every other day to keep the cookies soft. I have never replaced the bread, cookies don’t last for more than 3 to 4 days at my house and they always seem to stay soft.

Always remember that the suggested baking time is really only a recommendation and they should be watched closely. I always take my cookies out of the oven when they are still soft to the touch. Your cookies will continue to bake once you remove them from the oven.

Muscle Soak Himalayan Salt Review – I can’t be the only one who dislikes shoveling! Yesterday we got 5 inches of very heavy snow that I had to shovel and immediately following I could barely move. My lower back felt like I had pulled every single muscle.

Fast forward to this morning and my back feels even worse. I remembered that I got a jar of Muscle Soak Himalayan Salt in my last FabFitFun box and decided to give it a try.

The jar says to use a quarter of the contents for it to be the most effective. Getting into the bathtub was quite painful and there may have been some loud groans. I could tell throughout my bath that the pain was lessening.

It really worked!!! I was able to bend over when I got out of my bath and honestly, I would say it took away 70% of the pain. I would definitely chalk this product up as a great success and will now be on my go-to list for body aches and pains.

Cowboy Caviar Recipe We’ve Tried It – Not only have we tried it, we keep making it over and over! This highly addicting recipe can be paired with your dinner entree, on a sandwich or salad for lunch, over an omelet for breakfast and my personal favorite – with chips and cheese. Simply delicious!

Cowboy Caviar Recipe We’ve Tried It

Ingredients:

Black beans – 1 15 oz can, rinse and drain
Black-eyed peas – 1 15oz can, rinse and drain
3 roma tomatos, remove seeds and dice
Sweet Corn 1 cup, I prefer super sweet frozen corn thawed
1 large red bell pepper, washed and diced
1 small/medium red onion, diced
1/2 cup of cilantro, chop finely

Dressing:

1 tablespoon minced garlic
Salt
Juice from one Lime
1/4 cup of white wine vinegar
1/2 cup olive oil
1 teaspoon of sugar

Directions:

In a medium size bowl dump in sweet corn, black beans and black-eyed peas. Be sure you have drained and rinsed beans first. Then chop your cilantro, red pepper, red onion, cilantro, roma tomatoes and add to your bowl.

For the dressing you can mix it up in a separate bowl and mix well before pouring over your cowboy caviar. I personally don’t like to dirty too many dishes so I just add all the ingredients right into my main bowl and then mix throughly. Either way works!

The main ingredients for your dressing are olive oil and white wine vinegar. It is completely up to you what else you add. We like to add fresh lime juice, a little bit of sugar, salt and some minced garlic.

Sausage Egg Roll in a Bowl Recipe Video – My sister has been talking about how delicious this recipe is for the past year. My family finally decided it was time to test it out and see if it deserved all the hype that it was getting.

First off let me just say that it is super easy to make. In the video that I made we did not add the minced ginger. The original recipe calls for 1 tablespoon of minced ginger. Feel free to add it in.

I have an extremely picky child who really enjoyed this recipe. We were shocked and knew it must be pretty good if she liked it. It was delicious and we will surly be making again.

Sausage Egg Roll in a Bowl Recipe Video

Ingredients:

1 lb ground pork sausage
6 cups (2 bags) shredded coleslaw mix or shredded cabbage
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1/4 cup chopped green onions
1 tablespoon sesame oil

Directions:

In large skillet brown sausage, making sure it is throughly cooked. Do not drain any left over grease. Once brown, add the coleslaw mix, ginger, garlic and soy sauce. Mix and cook for 3-4 minutes stirring often. Add the green onions, drizzle with sesame oil and serve. 4 servings.

Mitchum Antiperspirant and Deodorant Review – We do all these reviews and I can’t believe that I haven’t talked about the one product that I have been using faithfully for over 30 years. Mitchum Antiperspirant and Deodorant is the only formula that I have found that truly works for me. It seems to me that I should be a spokesperson for Mitchum, I may have to start that campaign.

My Panic

Recently I went to three of my local stores, two being big box stores, and they were out of the specific scent that I use, powder fresh. I have tried several of Mitchum’s other formulas and powder fresh is my one and only. When I couldn’t find my go-to, I began to panic … seriously. I thought maybe they stopped making powder fresh. Furthermore, I immediately logged on to Amazon and ordered up a four-pack.

I started using deodorant in the early 80’s and nothing seemed to work for me. My mom, who has always used Mitchum, bought me a bottle. I remember it well, it was a green and white glass bottle with the rollerball head. I am a firm believer that if something works for you, you stick with it. Here I am decades later still sticking with my Mitchum.
