Addi Express and Addi King Knitting Machines: Recently we asked our Facebook followers if they were working on any new projects that they would be willing to share with us. Michel Wong wrote in to tell us about the Addi King and Addi Express knitting machines.

This was very intriguing to us since I took up crocheting this past year and Shirley started finger knitting and finger crocheting. Michel was kind enough to share some photos of her finished projects and tell us more about the Addi knitting machine.

Where did you hear about Addi Express? “I was searching YouTube for crochet patterns and stumbled upon a video.”

How easy is this to use and how long do the projects take you? “The Addi knitting machine is very easy to use. The difficult part is finding and creating patterns. I watch videos online and then customize the pattern to my needs. It’s a lot of trial and error but a fun process. I can make a set of fingerless gloves in an hour.”

Does it come with patterns or did you make up your own? “Both Addis were gifts from my boyfriend and so he also purchased a couple pattern books. There is a small growing group of users that share ideas on YouTube and an Addi FaceBook page. It’s fun for me to create new patterns like the yoga sock.”

Do you knit normally and if so compare regular knitting to using the machine. “I’m not a knitter because it’s so time consuming, that is why I love the Addi knitting machine. You can complete projects in a short amount of time. I have always been into crocheting. My grandmother introduced me to it when I was younger.”

Do you sell your projects and if so where can people buy them? “I currently do not sell my items but I hope to in the future. I will be making a lot of gifts this year for family and friends. This will help me really figure out my patterns and what works.

Anything else you want to add. “Addi machines are not easy to find. There are very few specialty stores that offer them and when they do, they go at a premium. Otherwise you have to order them from Germany and wait for it to go through customs. That’s what I did.”
