Lindysprings Systems Pure Water for Your Home Review

We were thrilled to sit down with Craig (Jehtro) Lund the owner of Lindysprings Systems out of Hudson, WI to learn about our water and what we can do to make sure it is safe and healthy.

Lindysprings Systems understands the water challenges in this area and took the time to learn about my family’s particular water treatment needs. Craig recommend the most efficient, effective and economical water treatment solution custom fit for my home. So every time we turn on your tap, you know we are getting the best water.

You can feel the concern, care and knowledge as Craig speaks. This locally owned and operated business understands the importance of honesty and integrity in all of their business dealings.

They focus exclusively on everything having to do with water softeners and other water treatment products. They don’t get sidetracked with water heaters and other plumbing related products and services. Because of our dedication to their core expertise you will find that they are head and shoulders above any of their competitors.

Lindysprings Systems offers a full line of water softeners, whole house filters and reverse osmosis drinking water systems, so you can be confident we have a solution that’s right for you and your budget. And you can count on them being here for you now and in the future.

My family went with the LRR Series II Water Softener System and the SQC Series Reverse Osmosis System.

You can find Lindysprings Systems website here and be sure to like their Facebook page.

Update: Our Lindyspring System is installed and we are in love! Here is a note that I sent to Craig about how pleased we are:

Seriously, this has been one of the best investment we have made in a long time! After having Lindyspring Systems come to our home and and test our water, we immediately set up an installation date. With chlorine levels through the roof that alone made the decision easy.

Craig and Adam spent the time to educate us on water and our health. I can’t recommend this company enough.

In just a weeks time I have already noticed that our water no longer smells like chlorine, with the reverse osmosis system the water tastes amazing, we use 1/4 of the shampoo we were once using, soft skin and ice cubes are clear! One of the biggest benefits is that I no longer have a stomachache from drinking water.

If you have been thinking about getting a Lindyspring Systems in your home – Do It Today, you won’t be sorry!

Cleaning cell phones

How To Rid Your Smartphone of Bacteria

Germs and bacteria are everywhere, but you can imagine how many are on your cellphone! We set out to find the best way to rid your cell phone of any and all germs.

First we took a look at UV Sanitizers for your smartphone:

Violight UV Cellphone Sanitizer

Violight UV Cellphone Sanitizer, 14-Ounce: Uses proven germicidal UV light to safely destroy 99.9% of surface bacteria on your phone.
Dual UV Bulbs Eliminates up to 99.9% of Germs Strep, E.Coli, Salmonella, Listeria, and Pseudomonas. This product is about the size of a hand soap dispenser, the device sets up unobtrusively on a nightstand or desk.

Here’s the thing, this sounds great but unless you are able to test for bacteria afterwards – how would one ever know if it works. There are many different brands, models and prices and they can be fairly inexpensive. The one above is $65.22 on Amazon, we did find them as low as $20.

Can you use cleaning solutions:

Do you dare use cleaning spray on your device? Sanitizing your iPhone can kill the spread of germs but Apple warns that using cleaning fluids on the iPhone can cause permanent damage to the screen’s coating, which could void your phone’s warranty.

Apple suggests the following steps:

Use only a soft, lint-free cloth. Abrasive cloths, towels, paper towels, and similar items may cause damage to the item.
Disconnect your Apple product from any external power sources.
Disconnect any external devices and other cabling from the product.
Keep liquids away from the product.
Don’t get moisture into any openings, and don’t use aerosol sprays, solvents, or abrasives.
Do not spray cleaners directly onto the item.

We have read several sites that say if you are using a bacterial spray on your phone or iPad that you should spray it on a soft cloths, just enough to make it damp and then to wipe down your phone.

Finding the perfect case to protect your devices:

Otterbox Defender Series

Our home uses Otterbox Defender Series. One would have to imagine with the enclosed case that most of the germs would stay on the case. Meaning that you can take the case off your phone and disinfect it without having to worry about wrecking your phone.

Tell us how you clean your cellphone and tablet in the comment section below.

Batteries

How To Make AAA Batteries Work As AA

This is the best tip we have seen in a long time! If you run out of AA batteries but have some AAAs laying around and some tinfoil you’re in luck.

Wrap up a ball of foil and stuff it into the case of your device where the battery’s positive terminal connects (we read you can do it both ways, but we only tried positive.) As long as you have enough foil to fill in the gap and make it tight, it should work.

This of course isn’t a permanent fix but should get you through until you can get to the store.

Chalkboard-art

DIY Chalkboard Wall Calendar

DIY Chalkboard Wall Calendar: I have always loved looking at the chalkboard art and wall calendars on Pinterest and finally decided to give it a try. We are so glad we did!

DIY Chalkboard Tools

Tools and Products:

Level

Pencil

Painters tape small and big roll

Black chalkboard paint (we used Glidden Disney Chalkboard Paint)

Throw away paint pan

3/8 paintbrush roller

First step is to decided how big you want to make your calendar, we decided on 4 ft by 4ft.  Then you must measure it out… make sure you have 7 days. I posted the pic above to show you that I made a mistake and had 8 days. With a little reworking and taking off a row of tape, it all worked out. I forgot to take a photo of the actual calendar before I started painting.

Chalkboard lines

Once you have your tape ready and your lines counted out several times you can start painting. I did 3 coats, each coat I painted in a different direction to make sure it covered nicely. I waited 3 hours in-between each coat.

Chalkboard

Once I completed the last coat I removed my painters tape. Sometimes if you leave the tape on until it is completely dry you pull up the paint with the tape.

We waited 2 full days to draw on it just to make sure it was completely dry. We decided to use chalkboard markers that we found at Michael’s and Walmart.

Once we figured out the measuring, this project was really easy and fun! We would highly recommend try it out.

Listertine-foot-soak-pan

Listerine and Vinegar Foot Soak Review

If you have spent any amount of time on Pinterest you have seen the pictures for the Listerine and vinegar foot soak. We decided to give it a try and see if our worn out winter feet could be saved.

Listerine foot soak

The story we looked at used 1/4 cup Listerine, 1/4 vinegar and 1/2 cup water – this did not seem like enough to cover our feet so we changed it up a bit.

Prep:

1 cup Listerine

1 cup white distilled vinegar

2 cups warm water

For our container we used a throwaway tin and it worked great. Put all the liquids in the tin and then soak your feet for 10 minutes.

Listertine foot soak pan

After 10 minutes, take your feet out and wipe away the dry skin and use some of your favorite lotion.

It worked great! If your feet are cracked you may need to do the process a few more times during the same week for the best results.

Let us know if you have tried the Listerine foot soak and how it worked for you in the comments below.

Oil Pulling

Coconut Oil Pulling Review

Coconut Oil Pulling Review: With so much talk about coconut oil pulling we decided to see if it was all that it was cracked up to be.

After researching online we learned that the best way to oil pull is to place a tablespoon of cold pressed organic coconut oil into your mouth. Swish the oil around the mouth for approximately 10-15 minutes and then spitting it out.

Other oils such as extra virgin cold pressed coconut, sunflower and olive oil have been used, although sesame oil is considered one of the best oils for this practice. I recommend alternating oils every couple of days to get the full benefit. Putting high quality organic oils into the mouth has a multi-effect outcome.

The said benefits to oil pulling are:

• Overall strengthening of the teeth and gums and jaws
• Prevention of diseases of the gums and mouth
• Potential holistic remedy for bleeding gums
• Prevention of dryness of the lips, mouth and throat
• Possible holistic treatment for TMJ
• Migraine headache relief
• Correcting hormone imbalances
• Reducing inflammation of arthritis
• May help with gastro-enteritis
• Aids in the reduction of eczema
• May reduce symptoms of bronchitis
• Helps support normal kidney function
• May help reduce sinus congestion
• Some people report improved vision
• Helps reduce insomnia
• Reduced hangover after alcohol consumption
• Aids in reducing pain
• Reduces the symptoms of allergies
• Helps detoxify the body of harmful metals and organisms

Watch our video to see if we recommend oil pulling – one of us had surprising results. Please comment below and let us know if you tried it and what your results were.

***Note: We have had some comments about the dangers of swallowing coconut oil. We know that this is an oil that you can consume, in the video we were referring to the toxins that you release when oil pulling.
